Sims 4 will be Free-to-Play Soon
So, EA decided to take the route of transforming the Sims 4 into a free-to-play game albeit the expansion packs not being free. The game will finally be free starting this October and will allow new users to enter the world of the Sims 4 and preferably make EA some extra cash as the expansion packs will be still paid nonetheless. Players who already own the Sims 4 and have paid for it will gain access to the Desert Luxe Kit which will include a few Southwestern-themed outdoor items for users to enjoy. The Deluxe Lux and the First Fit Kits have been developed in collaboration and feedback from community members. We’re excited to continue to welcome in more players than ever to create new stories and explore without boundaries. The Sims has always been about celebrating new ways to play and offers so many possibilities to discover. Beginning in October, The Sims 4 base game will be available to all new players to download for free on PC via the EA app or Origin, Mac via Origin, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One systems. With The Sims 4 going free to play, our team is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful The Sims 4 experiences for our players and we will continue to develop and release packs, kits and Sims Delivery Express drops into the foreseeable future. – Electronic Arts Those who have the EA Play Membership will get free access to the Get to Work Expansion pack. In addition, EA Play Pro members will also get the additional Toddler Stuff Pack for free. Through our You Make the Sims™ series, we interview creators to spotlight their voices and creative perspectives amongst our global community of players. For the first time, we’ve collaborated with two community creators who shared their ideas and feedback throughout the process of building the newest kits for The Sims™ 4, the Desert Luxe Kit and the First Fits Kit. And last but not least, to our longtime Simmers, we want to say thank you – we wouldn’t be where we are without your continued love and support to help make The Sims community what it is. From September 14 through October 17, all players who have purchased The Sims 4 base game will receive the Desert Luxe Kit as a gift**. With the Desert Luxe Kit, Sims can relax in their modern oasis with luxurious indoor and outdoor furniture, inspired by the natural landscape of the Southwestern desert and materials like stone and wood. To redeem the Desert Luxe Kit, simply log into the game and it will be available in the main menu for you to claim. – Electronic Arts The Sims will finally go free-to-play on October 18. EA will also broadcast the Behind The Sims Summit the same day which will most probably introduce future updates and DLC expansion packs into the mix. The Sims 4 is currently available for the Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Windows PC and will be free-to-play starting from October 18, 2022, onwards.
