After months and months of waiting, the jailbreak community is booming once again. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a working jailbreak tool for iOS 15, and it’s safe to say that it’s right around the corner. Apple is leaning toward releasing the upcoming iOS 16 platform. You might consider waiting it out to jailbreak iOS 15.
iOS 15 Jailbreak codenamed “Cheyote”
The Odyssey Team is working on a new jailbreak tool by the name of Cheyote, which is right around the corner. It’s supposedly going to work on all the iPhone models that offer support for iOS 15. Now, let’s get into the gritty details. You can go about jailbreaking your iPhone right now if you have an iPhone X or older model that supports iOS 15. But why is this the case? Well, the iPhone X, as well as older models, feature a hardware exploit that can’t be patched via a software update. So, the exploit rests within the bootrom level. To make it simple, the iPhone X and older generation iPhone can be easily patched. Sadly, the newer iPhone models don’t feature the hardware exploit, so there’s no way to jailbreak them at all. But things are about to change with the release of the Cheyote jailbreak coming soon for iOS 15. The news of the jailbreak was posted on Reddit by one of the developers working on the jailbreak. He remarked that the team is making tons of progress, and the jailbreak will be coming to the community pretty soon. It’s official that devices like the iPad mini 6 and iPhone 13 will be Jailbroken on iOS 15. The team suggested that the tool will initially work with iOS 15 all the way up to iOS 15.1.1. To add more, the team stated that the Jailbreak would increase support up to iOS 15.4.1. But this will take some time, considering it’s quite hard to find vulnerabilities in Apple’s impregnable software security. If you’re already hyped for the release of the new jailbreak software, then you can prepare ahead of time by taking some precautionary measures. For now, make sure to stick to the earlier versions of iOS 15. If you’re iPhone is running software versions from iOS 15 to iOS 15.4.1, then it’s best not to update to iOS 15.5 or later. Considering you can’t downgrade to previous versions this time around, iPhones updated to iOS 15.5 or later would need to wait for the jailbreak team to add support for the updated version. If you got iOS 15.0 to 15.1.1, you’d get support for the jailbreak upon release while support for iOS 15.4.1 will be added further down the line. Just to be safe, don’t update your device to the latest version until the Jailbreak’s been released. Cheyote will supposedly add new features and disable restrictions on the iPhone to take advantage of the iPhone’s hardware. For now, no specific release date has been provided for the jailbreak. It could possibly take weeks or even months before the jailbreak releases for iOS 15 to iOS 15.1.1 and even more for further versions of iOS 15. Check out more news on Appuals till we get our hands on further Cheyote news. Till then, see you later!
