Leak: Assassin’s Creed Rift Now Known as Mirage?
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will heavily focus on the core gameplay mechanics that made the Assassin’s Creed series a great video game franchise. Expect superior and polished movement and parkour mechanics along with a gameplay and combat system that pays homage to what made the series one of the best parkour and stealth games of all time. It was in a new video shared today that j0nathon shed some light on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game. j0nathon is a pretty reliable user on the internet when it comes to Assassin’s Creed series leaks as he revealed some interesting details about the game that was previously termed to be Assassin’s Creed Rift. The game was previously rumored to feature Basim in his youth and the narrative doesn’t seem to change in regards to the direction of the story whatsoever.
The game will be set in Baghdad from 860 to 870 and will return to the basics of the core gameplay mechanics. The game will remove features like dialogue choices, leveling system, and gender selection. Generally, the gameplay is expected to be quite different from what we got to see in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla along with some new animations in the mix. Apparently, Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t be the only Ubisoft game and entry in the series to release in the near future. j0nathon went on to state that Ubisoft is currently in the works for the remake of the original Assassin’s Creed that features the legendary Assassin, Altair. Sadly, the remake will be using a large portion of the assets of Assassin’s Creed Mirage and also from the upcoming Infinity. The remake is expected to be integrated into a Season Pass. While there isn’t any official news from the horse’s mouth, Ubisoft, it’s expected that official announcements will be made some time during September 10 at the upcoming and highly anticipated Ubisoft Forward event. While j0nathon is without a doubt, one of the more reliable Assassin’s Creed leakers that has accurately shed light on rumors in the past, we still have to take all the details surrounding the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage with a grain of salt. Relevant: New settings and location details revealed for Assassin’s Creed Infinity. However, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has corroborated some of the news and leaks shared online, so there’s hard evidence that the next entry into the series will focus on the basic core mechanics of the game to cater to hard-core veterans of the franchise that did not like the direction taken with the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins and later installments of the franchise.
— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) August 30, 2022 While players are expecting the game to release sometime in the Spring of 2023, Ubisoft hasn’t made any official announcements so far and we expect further details to be shared at the Ubisoft Forward event scheduled for September. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to release for the Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox Game Pass, PS4, PS5 and Microsoft Windows. And that’s pretty much it for today’s news.
