Konami has also launched a website that displays a countdown to the main live event. The last installment in the franchise was Silent Hill P.T. (Playable Teaser), released in 2014 for PlayStation 4. The game was another masterpiece by Hideo Kojima and Konami (unfortunately, you don’t hear these two names together now). Developed on Fox Engine, the game was on par with its predecessors. P.T’s unique psychological and traumatic elements blended with survival horror made it popular among fans and critics. Its ceaselessly looping hallway also has been a source of critical discussion. Undoubtedly, the game was good, but it was released for PlayStation 4, a last-gen console with technological limitations. We got new-gen consoles, but there was no new Silent Hill game which frustrated fans as PlayStation 5 doesn’t let them play P.T. on it due to the restrictions by the manufacturer. However, things have taken an interesting turn as Lance McDonald, a well-known hacker and data miner has proved that Silent Hill P.T. is playable on PlayStation 5 ( of course, there’s a catch). He was able to play the game on a fully updated and non-jailbroken PlayStation 5, but it is not that simple.

Lance McDonald shared his discovery and video proof through a tweet, explaining how he made this possible. He also streamed himself on Twitch while playing the P.T. on PlayStation 5. It should be noted that P.T. doesn’t utilize the full potential of PlayStation 5 as it is not a proper game port for the next-gen consoles. It is just a hack to play the game on PS5 without any visual or performance enhancements. Still, It’s very interesting to see how easily (with some homework) one can bypass the constraints imposed by the manufacturers, whether it’s about Jailbreaking a latest console (PlayStation 5) or playing an ‘unsupported’ game on a specific device.
